ADPave goes to the dogs

ADPave 40, the cellular paving system from Cheshire-based ADP, has 30 new fans – and they all have four legs.

The system has just been used to create a 1,400 square metre car park and access route at the Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary near Newark in Nottinghamshire and the residents of the kennels – 30 ex-racers looking for new homes – thoroughly approve of the new surface. John Morton, who runs the kennels, said that, while the actual kennel areas are concreted, the car parking area, over which the greyhounds have to pass when they are walked, was loose shale and stone.

“The dogs hated it and we needed to get something done,” he said. The situation was made even worse when the kennels managed to acquire some adjacent land – part of a farmer’s field which was totally unsuitable for vehicles of any kind, other than tractors – to extend the car park.

ADPave 40, the clip together paving system manufactured in the UK, provided the complete solution. “Using volunteer labour, we levelled and compacted the field, cleared the loose stones off the top of the original car park; then laid the ADPave 40 system right the way across the whole lot and filled it with gravel – and we managed to get the whole thing done in a single day,” said John Morton. “The result is fantastic. We now have an excellent car park and access route that gives us more than enough room for both visitor parking and for the parking and turning of our own vehicles which include large scale exhibition trailers. “The new car park also improves, beyond recognition, the appearance of the kennels and, best of all, the dogs love it and happily trot across the new surface.”

Andy Law, Managing Director of ADP, said that the great advantage of the ADPave 40 system was its versatility. “Its unique design means that it can be laid on virtually any type of surface, from turfed areas to existing concrete or other hard surface, or, as with the kennels, on a number of surfaces to create a single, aesthetically pleasing, car park capable of handling most types of vehicles.

“We can’t thank ADP enough for the help they gave us,” said John Morton. “Andy Law actually came down to the kennels to advise us on how to install the product and then helped even further by organising for his other business, WhitemossEco, to supply us with the gravel we needed to complete the job.”

ADP adds UK-manufactured paver to its range

ADpave 40

A new UK-manufactured clip-together paver, produced from 100% recycled polyethylene, has been launched by ADP - the country’s leading supplier of porous paving systems.

The new product – ADPave 40 – forms an integral part of the ADPave range, slotting neatly between ADPave 25, the clip-together paving system designed to be laid on top of existing grass and the very successful ADPave 50, which is designed to be laid on a prepared base and can be gravel or grass filled to handle all types of traffic up to HGV.

“ADPave 40 is a crossover product,” explained ADP’s Managing Director, Andy Law.  “It can be laid on existing grass, placed on top of any existing hard landscaped drive or path and in-filled with gravel, or it can be used just like ADPave 50 in a full ‘excavate and construct’ profile and  filled with either gravel or rootzone and then seeded.

“Because the new paver, which has the same load bearing capabilities as ADPave 50, is manufactured in the UK it offers a high quality but economical alternative to the host of cheap pavers from the Far East that are marketed by some companies.”

The ADPave 40 cellular paving units are manufactured from recycled HDPE and are unaffected by heat or cold and will not become brittle. The patented design provides an expansion and contraction ability in the connectors giving an inherent flexibility to the pavers together with the certainty that they will not split and crack under loading.

The ADPave 40 system, available exclusively from ADP, is supplied in pre-connected one metre square sheets.

The product is suitable for a wide variety of applications, including car parks, access roads, paths, driveways, and road extensions and widening schemes. As it allows water to infiltrate through to the sub-base, it is also ideal for use in Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS).

ADP makes leading porous products more competitive

Porous surfaces specialist, ADP (Advanced Drives and Paths) has announced a new deal which will enable it to bring two established, high quality porous paving products to the UK market at a much more competitive price.

The products, which will be marketed under the trade names of Adpave 50 and Adpave 25, are unique, flexible, clip-together cellular paving systems.  The 50mm deep Adpave 50 is designed for either grass or gravel-fill and is capable of handling all types of traffic up to HGV, while the 25mm deep version is designed for installation on top of existing grass.

“We have, in fact, been bringing both these products to the UK market for the past three years,” explained ADP Managing Director Andy Law.  “However, we have now been able to find a new source for both products,  enabling us to reduce the price to our customers by about 15%.”

The products are identical to those previously handled by ADP and come from the original manufacturer, Horst Schwab in Germany.

“Both products are recognised as the best in their class and we know that they are the preferred choice for many customers but, because of their route to the UK, they were being priced out of the market.

“Now we are in a position to offer both products at a much more competitive price and we are looking forward to expanding sales in 2009.”

ADP will also be marketing ADP Techturf, the company’s own brand for  another system that produces a completely natural grass surface capable of handling all types of traffic up to occasional use by HGVs.

ADP Techturf combines thousands of small mesh elements in a specially prepared rootzone which is then laid with quality turf from Inturf   As the root system develops, it intertwines with the mesh elements, creating a deep anchored, free draining, resilient grass surface capable of handling all kinds of traffic.

This established technology is proven in all types of applications, ranging from events areas and sports fields to access routes for emergency and service vehicles.

“We are the UK experts in this type of technology and our aim, under the new brand, is to expand its use in all kinds of applications,” added Andy Law.

Other products in the ADP portfolio include GrassRoute, a heavy duty mesh that can be rolled out over existing turf to provide access for all types of traffic and Turfguard, a lighter-weight mesh that can also be rolled out on top of existing grassed areas to protect the crown of the grass from lighter weight vehicles and pedestrian traffic.
