Products | Rainwater Harvesting
Rain water harvesting (RWH) systems provide both new and existing homes with the potential to reduce reliance on mains supplied water, increasing sustainability. In the longer term, as water costs continue to rise and water meters become the norm, RWH systems will also provide increased economic benefits.
Rain water from roofs and hard standings is collected and filtered in unobtrusive, underground tanks. Depending on the system selected it can then be used for a variety of purposes ranging from garden irrigation and car washing to toilet flush and laundry. ADP currently supplies two RWH systems which are compatible with our ground stabilisation products and can also be incorporated in a design for a Sustainable Drainage System (SUDS).
Reduced Water Usage
Collecting rainwater where it falls and making it immediately available for reuse makes perfect sense. It also eases the rate of flow into the local stormwater management network.
As well as saving water and energy and reducing bills, rainwater harvesting makes ideal use of local resources whilst reducing the impact of new developments on the surrounding infrastructure.
With only simple storage and filtration rainwater can be used to replace expensively treated mains water for use in toilets, garden and outdoor use. In this way, rainwater harvesting can reduce mains water use by up to 50%. Mains water would still be used for cleaning, hygienic use, cooking and drinking.
